FAQs and Plant Care Guide

order in which they are received. Due to the large influx of orders, plese allow at least 1-3 weeks after placing your order to receive tracking number, shipping notification and to receive your purchase. If you have not received your tracking number within 2 weeks, please use the “contact me” tab for questions regarding your order.

I do my best to carefully pack your plants so they will arrive in good condition and have minimal impact from being shipped via USPS. I cannot control the USPS and how plants are handled within the care of USPS as things can happen outside of my control, it is possible that damage to the plant can occur. Please see Shipping/Returns for more info.

The plants will be in a dark box for approximately 1-7 days so please expect to potentially have 1-2 leaves falling off as the plants acclimate to their new homes. But they will get back up and grow more new leaves in no time.

If your plant is in Sphagnum Moss, please open up the wrap to allow the roots to get air and be able to breathe. The plant has traveled in a dark box and needs to be able to breathe. Place the plant in a small plastic cup or nursery pot with the Sphagnum moss covering the roots. Do not drench the plant, the moss should not be tightly packed down on the roots as the plant needs to be able to breathe.

If the plants are shipped in pots, please DO NOT repot them for at least 14 days. This is important! They have been through a long shipping. Please don’t put more stress on them by repotting immediately.

Some plants do not like to be shipped and or moved and as a result may wilt and or even loose leaves. Please give your plant time to adjust in its new environment and home. Please do not panic and do not repot, fertilize or give your plant extreme amounts of water right away. The plant needs time to adjust and if you provide drastic changes, you may shock your plant.

My plants are grown within a greenhouse and home and as such, they have adjusted to the environment in which they are grown. When you receive your plant, it will need to adjust to your environment/home and that will take time. Do some research on the type of plant that you are ordering before it arrives so that you are aware of the specific conditions and needs of the plant in your care. Best practice is that you do not re-pot your plants for 30 days after receiving them.

Some plants don’t do well transitioning from water directly to soil, like certain Scindapsus or Monstera. A sphagnum moss mix can help ease that transition.

I ship plants in Sphagnum Moss. Sphagnum moss is commonly used when growing types of plants or orchids indoors. It is light and holds moisture very well but doesn’t become overly soggy though, so it means your plant is less likely to be bothered by root rot.

You can place the Sphagnum in a clear plastic cup or a small container to ensure that the roots are covered in the Sphagnum so that the plant’s roots have moisture to stay hydrated and healthy.

To re-hydrate the Sphagnum simply add some water to it, use warm water for best results. The moss will increase in size slightly while absorbing. Gently squeeze out any excess water before putting the plant back into it. It is best that you only hydrate the Sphagnum when it is dry to avoid overwatering it which can negatively impact the roots.

To create humidity for your plant, place a plastic bag over the plant. This helps to keep humidity levels high and to prevent the Sphagnum from drying out. If you choose to not keep a baggie over the plant, check the moss to ensure that it stays damp.

Tissue Culture Step by Step Guide Simple step by step Deflasking procedure:

  1. WASH YOUR HANDS! It is super important to have clean hands as the tissue culture is in a sterile environment.
  2. Open the flask (glass jar or plastic bag) in a shaded, cool, and most importantly, clean environment.
  3. Carefully remove the plants and rinse off any gel remaining on the roots. It is important that you remove all of the gel that is on the roots, if you do not then you risk rot and other growth occurring. Something that can be done to help get the gel off the roots is to put some room temperature water in the container and swirl it around for about 3-5 minutes to loosen up the gel, this makes it easier for the gel to come off the roots.
  4. After getting the gel off the roots, gently remove the plant from the container that it is in. Gently wash the plant roots and the root ball, stem and leaves to remove any remaining gel. During this time, also remove any dead leaves or bits on the plant, do not keep dead leaves and tissue on the plant as this can cause rot and infection to set into your plant.
  5. Mix a 1 1/2 teaspoon of Physian and a couple drop of Super thrive into room temperature water, about 1 gal. Ensure that you are not using too much to avoid melting the tissue of the plant. Soak for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove plantlets and place into sphagnum moss or a sterilized potting mix (if possible) with relatively low nutrient concentration. For example, you can use a peatmoss and perlite mix. Ensure the potting mix has been watered but is not too wet.
  7. During the first few weeks of growth, it is beneficial to have proper lighting and humidity. Avoid direct sunlight and place the plant in bright indirect lighting and maintain around a 75-80% humidity. If humidity chamber is not available, cling wrap can also be used over the top with a few holes.
  8. As the plants develop, a mild liquid fertilizer can be sprayed to optimize plant growth rates and care can be provided as normal.
